This was one of the signature games of what was arguably Notre Dame's greatest season, one which saw the Ramblers (as they were then known) sweep through ten straight opponents by a combined score of 285 to 54, culminating with a win over Stanford in the Rose Bowl. Then as now, Nebraska was one of the great football powers, and in fact this 1924 game was the only Nebraska game between 1922 and 1925 that Notre Dame won.
